Well, whilst surfing the blogging wave, I somehow managed to fall off my board, and hit the real world ocean with a hard and painful belly flop. I presumed I could at least write a blog post a month, but due to Internet problems at my place and a lot of happenings from March 1st until this day; a day of relaxation and no exam stress, I have not managed to post new blog. If there are any readers of my blog out there, I am deeply sorry. But I am back, and for good this time.
What have I done since March 1st then? I have more or less enjoyed the winter skiing in the mountains with my friends, spent a lot of time with friends besides skiing, and with Spring, comes entertaining seagulls on the neighbours’ roof and the construction workers starts working across the street. Yikes! No more delightful mornings ahead, alas less sleep, but luckily the exciting exams have finally come to an end!
The summer holidays have arrived! And so has the departure of a friend – Torunn moved on May 16th back to Gausdal, before starting to bike her way through Europe for three looong months, and when she finally is returning on Norwegian grounds, she is moving to Porsgrunn. Many visits ahead! Due to her her departure, we arranged a little barbeque and had a joyful day in the gardens.
With Spring, the numbers of days to Summer shortens, and the Sun shows her happy face over the roof-tops in the big city! Yes, Spring has finally arrived, and the grey curtain of Fall and Winter has disappeared. The world is colored in the colors of the rainbow – vivid green is the grass and the leaves on the trees, and the world is filled with flowers in golden yellow, blazing red, heavenly blue, snowy white, dashing pink, thrilling orange and lusty lilac. It feels like a great burden has been lifted from my shoulders, and I have the possibility to just sit back, relax and enjoy everything.
Today the world’s ceiling was coloured in Caribbean blue, and the Sun shone and shared her gentle warmth with Mother Earth. Summer has arrived, and the days passing by seem more delightful and pleasant than the day before.. only if you do not take the seagulls’ mating season on the roof-top nextdoor or the disrespectful construction workers across the street into consideration. No good night’s sleep in for me until I am back in the village, or at least not until I leave my appartment for the Summer!
On Saturday, I have never been further away from home than I will at this day. It is at this point that I leave the safety of my home behind and embark on the Path of Trials. It sounds more challenging than it is, after all – I am just travelling/exploring a more distant southeast corner of the world than I have done before! Croatia here I come!
And until next time, keep tracks of the memories, as the Book of Days…

of Norway. Going back to my roots, after spending most of my time in the city, or at least, that is what you would call Kristiansand after comparing it to my hometown… which is more or less a village in the eyes of those from the big cities, such as Oslo. The occasion, my sister’s 17th birthday. Cake and rustic fare; pinnekjøtt – which Clue would explain like rack of lamb ribs (Norwegian speciality, especially at Christmas). My sister’s favourite, and one of my mother’s specialities. I would not suffer from hunger this weekend, that is for sure. My mother always makes sure that there are lots of food to eat when I am at home. For one weekend, it extraordinary to point out, that for once, the entire family was at home. Both me and my two-years younger sister are both students, and rarely to be found in the “village” at home.
A weekend of relaxation. Coming home once a while, is quite a pleasure, I can assure you. No bus passes your bedroom window – more or less nothing that will ruin a goooood night’s sleep. Quite, clean air and my closest neighbour – mother earth. And I enjoy every second of the time spent at home. However, now I look forward to spring and summer. Winter and fall are cold and grey, whilest spring and summer bringst warmth, sun and vivid flora.
They paint nature in colours of the rainbow, and the world loses its grey curtain, and shows the life that winter and fall had hidden. I look forward seeing the farm in blossom. No rain, just the sun who brightens the world. Butterflies and bees flying from flower to flower, birds singing.
